National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka, Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs have made arrangements to conduct a career Guidance Program for School teachers

The program is expected to cover the areas of “Enhancing Career Guidance in School System”, “Role of the Teacher in Career Guidance”, “Labor Market, Vocational Education, Training & Current Opportunities” and “Career Test”, in 01 day sessions.

(Expected participants will be around 200)

New ways of working in the public sector

Following is the summary of recommendations to be implemented as an urgent need as the first step towards the reforms of public sector:

a) Cabinet of ministers

The Constitution should clearly prescribe the number of ministries to be not more than 30 regardless of whether the Government is of a single party, multi-party, national or otherwise; such ministries shall be constituted on a logical basis of grouping of subjects and departments of the government that shall be attached in a schedule to each ministry prescribed by the Constitution. A list of proposed ministries is attached. Number of deputies to each ministry should also be specified as per the above schedule of subjects and the total number shall not exceed 35.

NHRDC Discussion Forum on Budget Proposals for 2019/20

The National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka (NHRDC) together with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL), Daily Financial Times and the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICC) have organised a discussion forum to facilitate the preparation of the annual budget 2019/20 for human capital development.

This forum will seek insights on how the scarce funding resources should be distributed in the key areas of human capital development. This forum constitutes an assembly of experts from within Sri Lanka and outside who will deliberate on the pros and cons of what and where these funding should be spent. While there are many targeted areas of learning, there is also a distribution of areas differentiated by the learning age of the population and the purpose of learning. The session will be held on 24 July from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo 07. State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne and Australia’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Bryce Hutchesson will participate and speak at the event. A presentation on proposed Budget Proposals covering the education and TVET sector by Dr. Chandra Embuldeniya, Council Member, NHRDC and Founder, Vice Chancellor Uva Wellassa University will be the highlight of the event.

ජාතික ප්‍රතිපත්ති හා ආර්ථික කටයුතු අමාත්‍යංශයේ මානව සම්පත් සංවර්ධනය කිරීමේ ශ්‍රි ලංකා ජාතික සභාව, අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යංශය සමඟ ඒකාබද්ධව පාසල් වෘත්තිය මාර්ගෝපදේශනය ශක්තිමත් කිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලබන අතර, එහි ප්‍රථම පියවර ලෙස පාසල තුල ගුරුවරුන් දැනුවත් කිරීම සහ වෘත්තිය අධ්‍යාපනය පිලිබඳ දැනුවත් කිරීමේ වැඩසටහනක් 2018 ජූනි මස 18, 19 යන දෙදින තුල ගණේමුල්ල ජයකොඩි මහා විද්‍යාලයේදී පවත්වන ලදී.

එම වැඩසටහන සඳහා ප්‍රවීන වෘත්තීය මාර්ගෝපදේශන දේශක ආචාර්ය අජිත් ජයවර්ධන, තෘතියික හා වෘත්තීය අධ්‍යාපන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ වැඩබලන අධ්‍යක්ෂ මංජුල විදානපතිරණ මහතා ඇතුළු විද්වත් දේශක මඩුල්ලක් සහභාගී විය. ඉතා සාර්ථක ලෙස පවත්වනු ලැබූ මෙම වැඩමුළුව පිලිබඳව ගණේමුල්ල ජයකොඩි මහා විද්‍යාලයේ ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය ඉතා යහපත් ප්‍රතිචාර දැක්වූ අතර මෙවැනි වැඩසටහන් මාලාවක් ඉදිරියේදී දිවයිනපුරා පිහිටි තෝරාගත් පාසල් තුල පැවැත්වීමට මානව සම්පත් සංවර්ධනය කිරීමේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ජාතික සභාව කටයුතු සංවිධානය කරමින් සිටී.
